Jamie Council is a multi-media journalist, host, and sportscaster. She started her broadcast journey on the sidelines of a hockey rink for Minot State University, covering the Beavers in their first-ever national championship. While serving as the Broadcast and Public Relations Intern, she won an Eric Sevareid Award for her video coverage. She was also sports editor for her college newspaper (Back when it was an actual paper), The Red and Green. Prior to her career in journalism, Jamie was an athlete. She played soccer and ran track in college (NCAA DII) at Minot State, but lettered in soccer, track, football, and volleyball at Atascadero High School. She also played softball and basketball but made the decision to run track and play soccer once she hit high school.
Since then, Jamie has worked in sports departments in North Dakota -- Covering Carson Wentz getting drafted in his hometown of Bismarck -- and in Washington State. She has covered everything from high school sports to NFL training camps and dirt track to boat racing. After serving as the Sports Director for NBC affiliate KNDU/ KNDO/ SWX, she took a slight break to play professional indoor football, leading the AWFC kickers in points and accuracy as the Tri-City Rush completed an undefeated championship season. When she jumped back into the media world, Jamie decided to pursue live sports coverage, hosting, journalism, and production as a freelancer.
She has a passion for local sports and the art of story-telling. Jamie hosts a weekly local multi-media sports show "The Sports Council" on 1340 ESPN, serves as a sportscaster from high school sports on NFHS to NCAA Division 1 on ESPN+, dabbles in production, and works in the front office of the Wenatchee Bighorns Professional Basketball Team of the TBL. When she's not ingrained in sports, she has been a wine and lifestyle host for a local affiliate, a writer for the Journal of Business, and enjoys creative projects outside the four walls of wins and losses.
When she isn't on the clock, Jamie enjoys spending her time working out including roller blading, adult league sports (Shout out to This One at Sand Camp and the Gnarwhals), and hiking; traveling; reading; crafting; or checking out the local spots.
